HAVE FUN IN 2022 !

It is an honour for me to serve as Captain of Thorpe Hall Golf Club having been a member here for the past 12 years.

We all recognise that the past 2 years have been very difficult.  Now is the time to get back to normal and have some fun, whilst continuing to uphold the high standards and traditions that makes this an excellent golf club.

I endeavour to encourage more men to join the ladies in the mixed matches, to ensure more harmony between sections.

Having served in the Royal Navy Submarine Service, the charity I have chosen to support during my year is the ‘We Remember Submariners’.  This is a small charity very close to my heart.  ‘We Remember Submariners’ was initially created with the aim of providing a wreath for the funeral of Lt Cdr Ian Molyneux in April 2011.

‘We Remember Submariners’:
• provide a wreath and condolence card for any serving or retired submariners that cross the bar along with 'Moly' pins for the immediate relatives
• provide a wreath for submarine memorial ceremonies such as The National Submariners’ Memorial Service and
• donate to worthy submarine-related causes and support submariners, past, present and future.

Welcome to all visitors and guests to Thorpe Hall Golf Club.  I trust you will have an enjoyable day making the most of the fantastic golf course and the hospitality that our Club has to offer.

Welcome to all new members. Have some great golf and enjoy the full experience that our Club provides.

Golf really wasn’t on my radar when I was younger. My brother and dad played but I was more into netball, hockey and basketball and, although I loved all sports as a child, this was one I hadn’t tried.

Both my children attended Alleyn Court Preparatory School just round the corner to the golf club and it was there that I met Gemma and John Fryatt (our golf pros). Unsurprisingly, Gemma’s son, Oscar, was always going to play golf and Gemma persuaded Max to try it out. Not long after Jake and Max both joined the Cadet section. So what’s a mum to do when her boys are out having fun on the course? Join them obviously; and as they say, the rest is history!

Right from day 1 (1st July 2013) I have been made to feel welcome and included at Thorpe Hall. Our Ladies section is one to be envied. A fabulous group of ladies, comprising of past and present players, all enjoying THGC and the benefits our club brings with it. I really have found a great group of ladies that I can call friends and can’t ever imagine not being a member!
The highlight of my golfing career so far has been being part of the team who won the Harris Bowl in 2018; a journey and a final to remember forever! We were sodden and cold to the bone, but it was worth it. Let’s see if we can replicate that feeling again in 2L22!

I feel unbelievably honoured to be the 2022 Lady Captain; I actually can’t quite believe it. Now it’s time to get to work to make plans for a year with many laughs and great times!
