Club Captain Frank Leigh

One of my proudest moments is to have been asked to be Captain of THGC.

I will do my utmost to be the best captain I possibly can be for this great club.  I don't have any agendas, my hope is that we can all work together to look after our fantastic course and I encourage all members to repair divots and pitch marks.

I wish you all a great golfing this year and look forward to serving as your Captain for 2018.

Lady Captain Mandy Grant

Having had two girls who did the usual things like ballet, drama and singing, when I was faced with two boys who discovered their love of golf at the incredibly young age of 6, I had to either join them or be left behind. The professional at the time asked me why, as I was walking the Course with an 8 year old every day, did I not take the game up so that I could play beside him.

This I did, coming in as a Probationer and quickly achieving my handicap. However, the 8 year old became 9 and was then at the same standard as the older boys so played with them and I was left to fend for myself! The Ladies Section took me under their wing and I have never looked back. My daughters went off to University and I went on golfing holidays with my two sons and my husband.

Even though my family is now spread from Sussex to London to Southend, we still manage to go on golfing holidays - 3 or 4 of us or the whole tribe of 10! A wonderful hobby made more enjoyable by the wonderful Ladies Section at Thorpe Hall.

Cadet Captain Luke King

I started playing golf at the age of 12 and have seen the Cadet section grow so much in just three years.  I am currently playing off 6 handicap and with some hard work from me and my coach I aim to become a scratch golfer.

We have been competing in the Youth Shield and one of our great achievements last year was to win 'The Faldo Wedge' as a team event. I am looking forward to a great year as Cadet Captain and will be helping the junior organiser along the way to continue the growth of the Cadet section.

I will be inviting all of the Captains from Essex clubs to our Junior Open this year.
